The words on the invoice, in plain English
Staffing vocabulary is not complicated, but it is used loosely, and a vendor who is vague about what a term means is usually being vague on purpose. These are the definitions we would want you to hold us to.

Every definition here is written from the buyer's side. Where a term is commonly used to obscure something, the entry says so.
Bill rate variance
Most systems benchmark their average rate and stop there. The recoverable money is almost always in the spread between what different facilities pay for the same specialty — and you cannot see it without a rate card and an exception log.

If a vendor will not define it, ask again
Every term here should appear the same way in your agreement, your rate card, and your invoice. Where ours does not, tell us and we will fix it.
